About the class
Fun Maths Club!
Maths is everywhere — and this club is all about putting it to work, and having fun too!
Forget boring maths. In Fun Maths Club, learners use maths to tackle challenges, make decisions, design, plan, investigate and solve problems.
One week they might become a supermarket bargain hunter, another they could design their dream bedroom, plan the ultimate day out, scale up a recipe, create a mini theme park, investigate whether a deal really is a bargain or work out what they can achieve with a set budget.
Every challenge naturally brings maths into play, including money, measurement, number, shape, scale, time, data, estimation and problem-solving — helping learners see why the maths they learn actually matters.
Challenges are designed so learners at different levels can take part together. Some may work with simple calculations and measurements, while others tackle trickier budgets, percentages, scale, area or multi-step problems.
Most importantly, this isn't about getting through a worksheet. It's about thinking, experimenting, making choices and using maths to create or solve something.
Optional Home Challenges let learners continue the fun between lessons. They might measure a real room, compare supermarket prices, plan a journey, investigate a family budget challenge or develop one of their lesson designs further.

🐝 A little note about our first block 🐝
As we’re launching later than planned, this first block is a shorter 3-week block. You’ll only pay for these three lessons, and our usual 6-week blocks will follow. We can’t wait to welcome you!

What you'll learn this block
Week 1
The £50 Challenge
Budgeting, addition, subtraction, estimating and comparing prices. Learners are given £50 and a real-life shopping challenge — can they get everything they need without going over budget?
Optional Home Assignment:
Build Your Basket: Create your own £50 shopping basket using real prices.
Week 4
Give Your Bedroom a Makeover
Measuring, area, quantities, budgeting and comparing costs. Learners begin planning a bedroom renovation within a fixed budget.
Optional Home Assignment:
Measure Up: Measure a room or use provided measurements, create a simple floor plan and design the room - price the choices and calculate the final project cost.
Week 2
Bargain Hunter
Comparing prices, unit prices, multi-buy offers, percentages and value for money. Which deal is actually the cheapest?
Optional Home Assignment:
Supermarket Detective: Find 3 offers at home or online and decide whether they're genuinely good deals.
Week 5
The Renovation Challenge
Scale, area, perimeter, costs and problem solving. Work out flooring/paint requirements, choose furniture and make everything fit the available space and budget.
Optional Home Assignment:
My Maths Project: Finish or improve one project from the block and get ready to show the maths used to make the decisions.
Week 3
Plan the Perfect Day Out
Creating a budget using admission prices, food, travel and extras. Calculating totals, remaining money and making choices within constraints.
Optional Home Assignment:
Your Day, Your Budget: Plan a real or imaginary day out within a set budget.
Week 6
The Big Budget Showdown
Bringing together budgeting, estimation, money calculations, percentages, comparison and mathematical reasoning in a final real-life challenge. Learners make choices, adapt when circumstances change and justify their decisions.
Optional Home Assignment:
My Big Trip: Brainstorm ideas for a big trip you'd love to take! It might be into the city, across the country or to the other side of the world. Once you've decided where you're going, start investigating how much your trip might cost. Think about travel, somewhere to stay, food, activities and spending money. Can you create a rough budget for your adventure?

2. Live lesson places are limited to 10 learners per lesson to ensure the best learning experience. If a place becomes available, it will be bookable here on a first come first served basis.
