About the class
KS1 Phonics – Phase 3 Progression
Support the next step in your child's phonics journey with our engaging Phase 3 Phonics lessons.
Across six interactive small group lessons, learners build on their existing phonics knowledge by learning the remaining letter sounds, along with common digraphs and trigraphs.
They'll develop confidence reading and spelling words with these new graphemes, learn more tricky words, and begin reading and writing longer captions and simple sentences with increasing fluency.
Through games, practical activities and plenty of opportunities to read, write and explore sounds together, children strengthen the decoding skills needed to become accurate, confident readers.
This 6-lesson block covers:
Remaining single-letter graphemes
Common digraphs and trigraphs
Blending and segmenting words with new sounds
Reading and spelling longer words
Common tricky words
Reading captions and simple sentences
Building reading fluency, spelling confidence and independent phonics skills
Suitable for children who have secured Phase 2 phonics or those who would benefit from revisiting and strengthening Phase 3 skills.
