About the class
KS1 Maths Foundations
Make Mondays math-magical with our fun and friendly KS1 Maths Group!
These small-group lessons bring maths topics to life with clear modelling, games, interactive activities and playful challenges.
From counting and number bonds to shapes, measuring, problem-solving and early times tables - learners will build essential maths skills without feeling like they are completing traditional worksheets.
Each session is packed with opportunities to move, explore, create, laugh and learn together.
*There are 6 blocks per year (term time) with 6 lessons in each block.
1 Year
BLOCK 1 - Numbers Everywhere
Counting, place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and spotting patterns.

BLOCK 2 - Confident Adition
Number bonds, addition strategies, mental fluency, missing numbers and problem solving.

BLOCK 3 - Super Subtraction
Subtraction strategies, finding the difference, inverse operations, word problems and reasoning.

BLOCK 4 - Shape & Space
2D and 3D shapes, position, direction, patterns and shape properties.

Length, height, mass, capacity, comparing and estimating measurements.

Spotting, continuing and creating number patterns, Counting in sequences, Finding missing numbers + Using reasoning to explain patterns.

Understanding tens and ones, Reading and writing numbers, Comparing and ordering numbers + Using place value to explain our thinking.
Week 6
Week 6 – Number Challenge!
Using counting, place value, comparing and patterns together, Solving practical number problems + Celebrating growing mathematical confidence.
