Functional Skills Maths Level 2

A practical alternative to GCSE/iGCSE Maths, leading to a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification.

Functional Skills Maths Level 2 is designed for learners who want to gain a nationally recognised maths qualification for work, college, apprenticeships or further study.

Lessons focus on the maths needed in everyday life rather than traditional GCSE/iGCSE methods. Learners build confidence through practical problem-solving, real-life scenarios and qualification-style questions, while developing the mathematical reasoning, calculator and problem-solving skills needed to achieve Level 2.

Optional home assignments are provided alongside the live lessons for learners who would like additional practice between sessions. These reinforce the skills covered in class, provide opportunities to apply maths independently and support learners working towards the Level 2 assessment. They are optional, so learners can follow the course through the weekly live lessons without being required to complete additional work at home.

This rolling 12-block / 2-year pathway means learners can join at different points in the programme. Each 6-lesson block focuses on an important area of Functional Skills Maths, with skills revisited and applied in different contexts throughout the course.

As we’re launching later than planned, this first block is a shorter 3-week block. You’ll only pay for these three lessons, and our usual 6-week blocks will follow. We can’t wait to welcome you!
