About the class...
English Explorers
Growing confident readers, thinkers, and communicators.
English Explorers is designed for learners who are reading independently and are ready to deepen their understanding of language, literature, and communication while working through Key Stage 2 English skills.
With games, lively discussions, engaging texts and interactive activities, learners develop the reading and comprehension skills that help them become thoughtful, confident readers. Sessions encourage children to explore ideas, ask questions, share opinions, and make connections between what they read and the world around them.
Throughout the course, learners can develop:
Reading fluency and confidence
Comprehension and inference skills
Vocabulary and language development
Understanding of different genres and text types
Discussion and communication skills
Critical thinking and reasoning
Understanding of character, setting, plot, and theme
Recognition of author techniques and language choices
Confidence in expressing ideas and opinions
Lessons are warm, interactive, and designed to spark curiosity. Children are encouraged to think deeply, contribute to discussions when they feel comfortable to, and develop a genuine enjoyment of reading and literature in a supportive small-group environment.
Most importantly, English Explorers helps learners move beyond simply reading words on a page and towards becoming confident readers who understand, question, analyse, and enjoy what they read.
Suitable for independent readers working broadly within Key Stage 2 who are ready to develop deeper reading, comprehension, and communication skills.
