About the class...

It's never too late to become a confident reader.

Reading Reboot is a warm, supportive small-group session designed for learners who are not yet reading confidently, whether they are just starting their reading journey or need a fresh approach to help everything click into place.

We know that every child develops at their own pace, and that reading doesn't happen on a timetable. That's why Reading Reboot focuses on building confidence first, creating a relaxed environment where learners feel safe to have a go, ask questions, make mistakes, and celebrate every step forward.

Led by the experienced and nurturing Miss Caroline, sessions combine games, discussion, detective phonics, word-building activities, stories, and interactive challenges to make learning engaging and enjoyable. Learners are encouraged to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them, helping to reduce anxiety and build self-belief alongside essential reading skills.

Over time, children will develop:

  • Phonics knowledge and decoding skills

  • Word recognition

  • Vocabulary and language understanding

  • Reading fluency and confidence

  • Listening and comprehension skills

  • Communication and speaking confidence

  • A positive attitude towards reading

Most importantly, Reading Reboot is about helping children discover that they can become confident readers. We focus on progress rather than perfection, celebrating every achievement and helping learners build the strong foundations they need for future learning.

Whether your child has struggled with reading, lost confidence, or simply needs a different approach, Reading Reboot offers a friendly and encouraging space where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Suitable for emerging readers, reluctant readers, and learners who would benefit from additional support in developing confidence and reading skills.

About the tutor

Hi, I'm Caroline!

I’m delighted to be part of The Home-Ed Hive community and to be sharing in the learning journeys of the wonderful children and families who join my groups.

For over twenty-five years, I’ve had the joy of helping children develop skills, grow in confidence, and discover a love of learning. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status in 2000, I spent many years supporting children of different ages and abilities before moving into private tuition, where I have worked closely with families ever since.

I believe every child deserves to feel encouraged, capable, and valued. My sessions are designed to provide a warm, supportive environment where learners can ask questions, explore ideas, make mistakes, and celebrate successes.

My lessons are friendly, engaging, and interactive, with plenty of opportunities for discussion, problem-solving, and curiosity-led learning. Whether we're strengthening existing skills or tackling something new, my aim is always for children to leave feeling proud of what they have achieved.

One of the things I love about The Home-Ed Hive is the flexibility it offers families.. Learners are welcome to join me for one morning, two mornings, or all three each week, creating a timetable that works best for their interests, goals, and family life.

Outside of teaching, you'll usually find me in my wellies, walking the dog, pottering in the garden, or spending time at my allotment. I’m also a busy mum of three, so I understand how important it is for learning to feel positive, flexible, and enjoyable. When I get the chance, I love being creative and making colourful jewellery.

It is a real privilege to support children as they learn, grow, and discover what they are capable of. I can't wait to welcome your child to our group.
